Anonymous asked: Many people say the same thing about other God's / Saviors / Religions. I don't think it's actually Jesus that makes a difference. Just the idea of him. It's nice to think someone is always there loving you and looking out for you. Doesn't mean it's real though. Every religion thinks their God is real, Christianity is probably wrong as it is one of the newer religions. It might make you feel good but that's the only credibility it has.
Christianity is not a religion to just make you feel good, I can assure you. I do not love God simply because He loves and looks out for me, not because it makes me “feel good,” but because He saw how terrible of a person I was and saved me from myself and from an eternal separation from Him. He does make me feel good, yes, but He does bring conviction at times when things are wrong in my life and He brings suffering when I need it. He humbles me, He breaks me, He raises me up. He is not an idea, He is a living Savior. He does so much more than make me “feel good.”
I think Christianity and Jesus have more credibility than you think, anon. Even nontheists admit that Jesus’ story and claims were unique among all other religious leaders of His time. He claimed to be the Son of God and Man (Matt. 26:63-64), something no other religious leader claimed during His time. What is even more unique is that of all the religious deities, the God of Christianity is the only One who chooses to humble Himself and become lowly for the sake of those who were created to serve Him. Born of a virgin, crucified, buried, resurrected (the very centerpiece of Christianity is the resurrection, and without it Scripture says our faith is absolutely pointless), and ascended with a promise to return, Christ’s story is certainly one that stands out among other religions. To imply that all religions and religious leaders are basically the same is, frankly, ignorant.
Wow. One of the greatest things I’ve ever read.
I love this
